If you’re a former member of Marching Mizzou (M2) or a passionate supporter of the University of Missouri, you’re already part of the Marching Mizzou Alumni Band. When you join the Marching Mizzou Alumni Band (M2AB), it is a great way to stay connected and support current and future members of M2.

Who Can Join M2AB?
M2AB is open to:
Graduates of the University of Missouri
Current or former students of the university
Anyone with an interest in Mizzou, the School of Music, or Marching Mizzou
There are no current membership dues required to be part of M2AB, but we strongly encourage members to join the Mizzou Alumni Association. Supporting the Alumni Association helps fund M2AB activities, scholarships, and Marching Mizzou itself.
Ways to Get Involved
1. Perform with Us
One of the best ways to stay connected is through performance opportunities! Whether marching at Homecoming or playing in a pep band, you can dust off your instrument and get back in the game. (We do have instruments and auxiliary equipment available for those who don’t own)
Reunion Weekend – Traditionally at Mizzou’s Homecoming, this is our biggest event of the year, where alumni take the field with Marching Mizzou during pre-game. It’s a tradition you won’t want to miss! Registration for Reunion Weekend opens in the summer. Save the date for Homecoming 2025 on September 27, 2025!
Pep Bands – Throughout the year, we put together alumni pep bands to support Mini Mizzou or for special events. When opportunities arise, we send out calls for volunteers via email and social media, so stay tuned for details.
2. Join a Committee or Apply to Join the Board of Directors
If you’re seeking ways to support Marching Mizzou beyond performances, consider volunteering to join our Board of Directors or a committee.
Board of Directors – The M2AB Board of Directors is a group of 11 elected board members who participated in Marching Mizzou during their tenure at the University of Missouri. Members are nominated each spring, voted on during Reunion Weekend registration and elected and officially announced at the annual business meeting.
M2AB’s board meets once a month via Zoom to plan events and initiatives that support both alumni and current Marching Mizzou members. Some of the things we work on include:
Organizing Reunion Weekend at Homecoming
Coordinating meals for Marching Mizzou
Selecting and presenting senior gifts
Fundraising and scholarship
Conducting scholarship interviews for current students
And more!
Each board member serves a three-year term (e.g., January 2025 – December 2027). Nominations to join the board open each spring and are due by June 30. Check out our past board meeting minutes here.
Committees – If a board position commitment feels like too much, you can start by joining a committee! Committees are open to any M2 alum who wants to contribute ideas and help with specific projects.
You are not required to attend board meetings, but you can work with board members to help plan aspects of the alumni band. Committee chairs are not required to be on the board, so they are open to any member to join.
Here is a list of our current committees:
Membership Committee is responsible for recommending ways to enhance service to the M2AB members, developing plans and programs for attracting new members and retaining existing members, and determining ways to encourage the participation of active and inactive alumni in the activities of the M2AB.
Finance Committee is responsible for evaluating and making recommendations regarding internal auditing, fundraising, budgeting, and investment research.
Operations Committee is responsible for the planning and implementation of the activities of the M2AB. The activities may include annual social activities, Homecoming, Reunion Weekend, and the surrounding events, such as any Reunion Weekend social events, pre-rehearsal registration, etc.
Bylaws Committee is responsible for meeting and updating the M2AB bylaws.
Scholarship Committee is responsible for soliciting nominees, interviewing the nominees, and selecting the annual recipient(s) of the M2AB Scholarship and any other sponsoring organization’s scholarships.
PR/Communication Committee is responsible for coordinating external communication including social media, email communication, and the website.
Electoral Committee is responsible for managing all aspects of the election processes for officers and Directors by following the election procedures established by the Board.
3. Donate to Support the Marching Mizzou Alumni Band
If you want to make a monetary impact, consider making a financial contribution to support M2AB, which supports our efforts for Marching Mizzou and its students.
Our current fundraising effort focuses on raising money for our $25,000 endowed scholarship fund. A scholarship endowment has been established to support this effort in perpetuity.
Additional donations to M2AB help fund:
Scholarships for current M2 students
Meals and treats for the band
Senior gifts
Improving your experience at future M2AB events like Reunion Weekend
Every donation, regardless of size, directly benefits the students who carry on the legacy of Marching Mizzou. Whether it’s a one-time gift or a recurring donation, your support helps keep Marching Mizzou strong for future generations.
